You are welcome to donate books to the library. Donated items are not guaranteed to be added to the OPL collection. Anything OPL can't add will go to the Friends of the Omaha Public Library for their book sales. These sales help support library programs throughout the year.
Some libraries have limited space and may not be able to take large donations. If you'd like, you can take your books directly to the W. Clarke Swanson Branch where the Friends hold their book sales.

Friends of the Omaha Public Library (FOPL) is a private, nonprofit, grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to supporting and promoting Omaha Public Library (OPL). Friends are people, like you, who take pride in their library and through their memberships, advocacy efforts and volunteer services, raise funds and awareness to support the Omaha Public Library.
The Friends believe that public libraries are essential to our society and are the foundation of supporting lifelong learning in our communities. The Friends work in cooperation with the Library staff to inform the community about the excellent services and activities provided by the Omaha Public Library. Revenues raised through the Friends book sales support Library programs that would not be possible without the private funds from the Friends, The Omaha Library Foundation and other granting agencies.

The Omaha Public Library Foundation (OPLF) is the private philanthropic arm of Omaha Public Library. As an organization wholly separate from Omaha Public Library and the City of Omaha, opens a new window, OPLF seeks private support for improvements and enhancements which cannot be provided through local government funding. OPLF is managed by a board of professionals and private citizens, opens a new window selected for the diversity of their talents. It is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization registered with the IRS and the State of Nebraska. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
