Zines Now Available at Benson Branch

Zines are niche, handmade, hyper-local booklets created by community members for community members and Omaha Public Library is thrilled to announce that a collection of them is now available to patrons at Benson Branch, opens a new window and another will be available soon at W. Dale Clark Main Library, opens a new window!

OPL hosted a OPL Zine Library Launch Party, opens a new window on Friday, Sept. 6, at Benson Branch, along with Rowdy Boys Collective, opens a new window and Benson First Friday, opens a new window (BFF)! Community members joined us to check out the new collection, create zines of their own, and browse zines available for purchase from local vendors.

The collection is currently only available at Benson Branch and will soon be available at W. Dale Clark Main Library and zines do not check out in the same way as typical library materials. Patrons are encouraged to read zines at the library, take them home, share with others, and return them to any of OPL’s 12 locations so that everyone may enjoy them. Zines will not appear on a patron’s library account or acquire fines.

OPL's zine collection was developed with support from the Rowdy Boys Collective and built with donations from the ALA Zine Pavilion, opens a new window and vendors from Omaha Zine Fest, opens a new window. The collection is built primarily of donated zines and zines donations help ensure the continued success of the collection. If you have a zine that you would like the library to consider for purchase, fill out our suggest a zine form, opens a new window.
