Summer Reading Program

June 1 - July 31, 2020

OPL invites you to Imagine Your Story this summer during the annual Summer Reading Program! Learn, create, explore, and have fun reading all summer long. Summer is the best time to read for fun and earn great prizes while you’re at it. All ages are invited to participate.

OPL will have free virtual activities and programs throughout the summer to keep the entire family engaged, entertained and motivated to reach their reading goals.

Program Details

Kids' & Teens' program

Get a prize pack by reading or listening for 10 hours. Log time each week for additional chances to win drawing prizes, including gift cards.

Adults' Program

Read or listen for 10 hours to receive your choice of a clear stadium bag, water bottle, or pencil case; voucher for a book to the Friends of OPL book sale; and entry into a drawing for gift cards.

FAQs

  • Summer Reading Program encourages and incentivizes kids, teens, and adults to visit their local library and read during the summer. Studies show that students who read during the summer months get better grades and reading scores when they return in the fall. Adults who read during the summer set a positive example for the children in their lives.

  • You can sign up starting May 21. 

  • Visit omahalibrary.org and click on the Summer Reading Program link. Sign up using your library card number or user name. Ask a librarian for help signing up by calling 402-444-4800 or online at AskOPL.

  • Prizes may be collected after June 15 at branches offering curbside pick-up. Details about how to schedule a pick-up will be available soon.

  • OPL will offer a variety of free, virtual programs through its website and social media channels. A number of our presenters and staff will be presenting videos or live-streamed content throughout the summer.
