Big things are happening at the Bess Johnson Elkhorn Branch! Beginning March 17, the branch was temporarily closed for renovations. While the work is underway over the next few weeks, we want to ensure you have all the details you need to continue accessing library materials.
Returning Items
The book drop will remain open throughout the renovation period, so you can continue returning your items as usual.
Picking Up Holds
If you have existing holds at the Elkhorn Branch, here are your options:
-
Curbside Pick-Up: Starting March 24, you can schedule a curbside pick-up at Elkhorn to retrieve your holds.
- Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Friday-Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Need it sooner? Call any OPL branch to transfer your hold to another location or the pick-up lockers outside Elkhorn’s front doors. Be sure to wait for your notification before heading out to pick up your items.
About the Pick-Up Lockers
While the pick-up lockers remain an option, they are in high demand since launching on Monday, March 17, and filling up quickly. If you’ve already selected the lockers as your pick-up location, we kindly ask that you retrieve your items promptly to help free up space for others.
If you’d like to place a new hold using the pick-up lockers:
- Select "Pickup-Locker - Bess Johnson Elkhorn" when placing a hold through the MyOPL app or OmahaLibrary.org.
- Once notified that your item is ready, visit the lockers on the east side of the branch and follow the on-screen instructions to access your materials.
What’s Changing?
We’re making some fantastic updates to enhance your library experience, including:
- New carpeting throughout the branch
- A brand-new service desk to better serve you
- An updated staff workroom to improve efficiencies and workflow
- All new data cabling for better internet and phone connectivity
We appreciate your patience during this transition and can’t wait to welcome you back to an improved space later this spring. Thank you for being part of our library community!
