Curbside Pick-up Service & Book Returns

Curbside pick-up for library materials and book returns are now offered at five library locations across the metro.

Patrons who would like to take advantage of curbside pick-up service must reserve online at least 24-hours in advance or call 402.444.4800 to schedule a pickup time. Online reservations are not accepted for same day pick-ups. Please have your library card number and PIN ready. Patrons may continue to place new holds on available items at OPL and borrow up to 40 items per cardholder. These items include books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, seeds, Summer Reading Program prizes and more.

OPL will accept returns of borrowed items at the library branches which are providing curbside service during open hours. Because not all library locations are currently staffed, OPL will not accept returned items at locations where curbside service is not offered, except at W. Dale Clark Main Library, where book drops will be open during the week for returning items Monday, 9 a.m.- Friday, 4:30 p.m.

Hours are subject to change. Book drops at these locations will be open on the specified days, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Returned items will only be accepted in book drops. Items left on the property, attempted to be handed to a staff member, or left at curbside branch locations will not be accepted. Oversized items that do not fit in the book drop may be returned by mail or retained by patrons until the buildings reopen. Late fees will not be accrued on unreturned library materials while libraries remain closed. Patrons who would like to return their items by mail may send their materials to W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., Omaha, NE 68102. Returned items will be checked in after three business days and thereafter will no longer appear on a patron’s account. If the branch you normally visit is not offering curbside pick-up service, holds designated to those locations will be rerouted to a branch that does.

For patrons who do not wish to pick up their holds during this time, the holds will not expire. These items on hold will remain on the shelf until the library reopens. Learn more about the curbside pick-up process by visiting OPL’s FAQs.
