OPL patrons are reporting issues with not receiving library email notices through their Gmail email accounts. We believe this is related to a technical issue that has been resolved, but has caused Gmail to not immediately trust emails from omahalibrary.org. This issue should resolve itself with time as Gmail becomes reacclimated to OPL courtesy notices and labels them as ‘safe’ mail. In the meantime, there are several things Gmail users may check to ensure they are able to receive OPL emails again.
If you are an OPL user that has a Gmail account attached to your library account, we advise the following:
- Check your email's Spam folder for any courtesy hold notifications from OPL.
- Go into your email Settings and whitelist all emails from omahalibrary.org.
- Consider downloading the MyOPL app to your smartphone or mobile device. You may use the app to check the status of your current holds and checkouts as often as you wish.
- Consider adding another email address to your library account. To add your email address, log in and go to My Settings.
Consider enabling SMS text notifications. To opt into text alerts, log into your account via our classic catalog and click on Change My Info. In the Mobile Settings area, check the box next to Opt In. You will receive a text message asking you if you'd like to opt in. Reply "YES" to opt in. Alerts are sent when your holds are ready to be picked up and when materials are nearing their due dates and will come from the number 35143.
