Vote now to choose the 2025 Omaha Reads selection

We’ve all seen how the power of a good story — no matter the medium — can bring people together and spark conversation.

Omaha Reads, an annual initiative hosted by the Omaha Public Library, is an intentional effort that celebrates the power of literature by bringing the community together to read and explore the themes of one book. The book is selected through a public vote and promoted through book talks, author visits, and related programs.

Community voting is open now through March 31 to select the 2025 book. All are invited to make their voices heard by voting online at omahalibrary.org/omaha-reads, opens a new window or in person at your local OPL branch.

  • “Firekeeper’s Daughter” by Angeline Boulley
  • “How Moon Fuentez Fell in Love With the Universe” by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland
  • “The Measure” by Nikki Erlick
  • “Solito” by Javier Zamora
  • “The Sum of Us” by Heather McGhee
  • “True Biz” by Sara Novic
  • The winning title will be announced this summer, with programs and events related to the chosen book taking place in the fall.

Omaha Reads is like a giant book club but with even more voices, perspectives, and opportunities to connect. And it’s not just about books — it’s about community. The chosen title, nominated by and voted on by community members, often fuels discussions that help build understanding and empathy. Programs get people talking, thinking, and engaging with literature in ways that go beyond just flipping pages. Activities such as book discussions, author visits and themed events create a shared experience that makes reading feel more social and meaningful.

Help make the 2025 Omaha Reads the best one yet and cast a vote for your preferred title!
