By now, you may have heard the big news about Heartland Bike Share’s new Free Rides pass program! With this new initiative, Heartland Bike Share can connect the community to free access directly, instead of going through conduits like OPL’s Discovery Pass program. While they’re no longer a Discovery Pass partner, OPL patrons who previously rode with them can continue to have access to the bikes in this new format.
This new program provides the opportunity for use of bike share throughout the year with a free annual pass. This new initiative allows Heartland Bike Share to further promote healthy living, mitigate climate change and encourage sustainable, equitable transportation.
Omaha-area residents can apply for a free annual pass that grants unlimited, year-long access to the bike share system for 60-minute rides. This shift transforms the program from a recreational amenity into a viable, daily transportation option for the community.
The offer is available to residents with a permanent address in Omaha, Council Bluffs, Papillion, Bellevue, La Vista or Ralston. Users must be at least 16 years old. Those with existing Heartland Bike Share accounts must have no outstanding charges or account blocks to sign up for the new pass.
Ready to ride? Users can apply for free access directly on the Heartland Bike Share website at heartlandbikeshare.org/free-rides. Once approved, applicants will receive a promo code to enter into the BCycle app.
