Information Collection, Use and Sharing
- omahalibrary.org uses a vendor to collect statistical information which includes gender, age, city and state, language, web browser, ISP, device type, operating system, referring website addresses, and access dates and times. omahalibrary.org does not associate this data to individual user identities. The data is used as an aggregate to maintain the quality of services offered by Omaha Public Library and is used in reports to local, state and national library organizations.
- Omaha Public Library collects personally-identifiable information including name, birthdate, library barcode, address, phone number and email address via webforms. Contact information collected from webforms is used only to provide services relating to Omaha Public Library and will not be re-distributed or sold to another party.
- Omaha Public Library is the sole owner of the personally-identifiable information collected on omahalibrary.org. Omaha Public Library only has access to and collects information that is voluntarily provided by users via email or other direct contact. User information will not be shared with any third party, other than when necessary to fulfill user requests.
- Omaha Public Library assumes no responsibility if a user discloses personally-identifiable information through other websites, chat rooms, online communities or other public online forums.
Security
Only Omaha Public Library employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally-identifiable information. The computers/servers on which personally-identifiable information is stored are kept in a secure environment.
Use of Library Vendors
Omaha Public Library contracts with vendors to enhance customer experience, increase the quantity and quality of materials available to users, and broaden the services and resources offered by the library. Library vendors are forbidden to use individual customer data and information for commercial purposes outside the limited terms of their agreements with Omaha Public Library. These companies are not allowed to share individual customer information with other third-parties unless necessary to complete a customer-activated transaction.
Responsibility for External Sites
omahalibrary.org contains links to other websites, many of which are operated by third parties. The library provides links for user convenience, but does not review, control or monitor the privacy practices of web sites operated by others. The library is not responsible for the performance of websites operated by third parties.
