Nebraska Reference Collection

The Nebraska Reference Collection is a closed-stack research collection at the Genealogy & Local History Room, opens a new window filled with unique Nebraska-related historical resources. Although kept in a restricted area, most of them can be found in the OPL online catalog and requested at the the reference desk in the Genealogy & Local History Room. Particularly useful to genealogists and local history researchers are town and county histories, pioneer memoirs, maps and gazetteers, Omaha-area school yearbooks, church and parish histories, historical Douglas County birth, death, and marriage registers on microfilm, cemetery records, extensive runs of Nebraska (and some Iowa) periodicals, including Nebraska History, the Nebraska State Historical Society quarterly (indexed at the Nebraska State Historical Society website), and vertical files of news clippings, pamphlets, leaflets, and other ephemera relating to Nebraska places, businesses, and people.
