wonderAre you looking for a book your entire family will enjoy?  Try Wonder by R.J. Palacio.   August Pullman wants only to be normal, but with his severe congenital facial abnormality, sometimes normal is just out of reach.  To the people who know him and love him, it is not his abnormality that makes him stand out; it is his curious, kind, and very brave heart.

August has chosen to stop being home schooled and to enter a real junior high school; a task fraught with enough emotional drama to stagger even the hardiest of souls.  But August perseveres. His loving family, especially his sister Olivia, his teachers, and his classmates are portrayed in an open realistic voice. While August is the main narrator, several chapters are told from other viewpoints.  Wonder is located in the Children’s Fiction Collection, but is suitable for all ages.
