Nebraska POW Camps

nebraskapowcampsHow many Prisoners of War would voluntarily return to the location of their imprisonment?  Many Nebraska POWs did just that!

Melissa Marsh’s new book, Nebraska POW Camps, is a superb, well-written overview of the Nebraska  POW camps, the camp system, and the Intellectual Diversion Program.  The IDP was a re-education course designed to show Nazi POWS the merits of democracy. Fort Robinson was a successful national model for the IDP.  Nebraska also has the singular honor of not one reported incident of prisoner abuse.

Nebraska POW Camps is a comprehensive look at a nearly forgotten period of our state’s history. It has numerous illustrations and is of interest to the general reader as well as the local history or WWII fan.
