Celebrate “Women as Lifelong Learners” during Women’s History Month

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Omaha Public Library and the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Lifelong Learning Initiative (LLI), will host a “Women as Lifelong Learners” reception on March 14, 1-3 p.m., W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., 4th floor. The reception will include live music, art, poetry and refreshments.

Learn Create Share @ Your Library during Teen Tech Week 2010

     Local teens will be tuning in at the Library as Omaha Public Library (OPL) celebrates the third annual Teen Tech Week March 7-13. They join thousands of other libraries and schools across the country who are celebrating this year’s theme, "Learn Create Share @ Your Library.” Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technologies, especially those that are offered through libraries. Teen Tech Week encourages teens to use libraries' nonprint resources for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology.

Time for Omaha Public Library’s Prime Time Reading

Attend Prime Time Family Reading Time®, a Nebraska Humanities Council (NHC) family literacy program designed to reinforce the role of family in society and to encourage parents and children to bond over reading, storytelling and learning together. North and south Omaha families with children six years old and up are invited to begin a family tradition by attending PRIME TIME FAMILY READING TIME®, a free six-week program designed to help parents and children read stories together about life lessons and talk about them.

Companies Needed for OPL’s Teen Job Fair

Librarians organizing Omaha Public Library’s 2010 Teen Job Fair are recruiting for additional employers and companies that hire teens for part-time and/or summer jobs. The 2010 Teen Job Fair is scheduled for Monday, March 22, noon to 4:00 p.m., at W. Clarke Swanson Branch, 9101 W. Dodge Rd. The branch is normally closed on Mondays, but will be open just to host the event.

WHERE:   2808 Q St.

    The water main has been repaired, and the South Omaha Library will open this evening, February 17, from 4-9 p.m. The Library will return to normal hours tomorrow.
