Celebrate “Women as Lifelong Learners” during Women’s History Month
March 05, 2010
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Omaha Public Library and the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Lifelong Learning Initiative (LLI), will host a “Women as Lifelong Learners” reception on March 14, 1-3 p.m., W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., 4th floor. The reception will include live music, art, poetry and refreshments.

Featured guest and speaker will be Kennetta Wainwright. Ms. Wainwright is the owner of Wayne Wright Promotions, LLC and the executive director of Leverage. Ms. Wainwright has been honored for small business development and was recently invited to the nation’s capitol as a Nebraska small business delegate where she participated in a nationally televised Small Business Health Care Conference. She founded the Omaha Entrepreneur Fair to help the unemployed become entrepreneurs and created the entrepreneurial training program called Leverage. Ms. Wainwright continues to help Omaha small business owners through Leverage Executive, a Business Plan Boot Camp that provides consulting, mentoring, strategic planning and technical assistance at no charge to the public.

In addition to the speaker, selected area women poets will read their works from “Celebrate: A Collection of Women’s Writings” poetry book. Paintings by Madalyn Bruning, Peg Martin and Rhoni Moore will be on exhibit in the Michael Phipps Gallery during the reception and throughout March.

This event is sponsored by Friends of Omaha Public Library and University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Lifelong Learning Initiative. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 402-554-4897 or 402-554-2292, or email padams@unomaha.edu.
